It's Important!
"I hate having to worry about social media". I hear this quite often from my clients, and even though it can be very time consuming and annoying, it's very important to include it in your marketing plan.
Social media is a huge influence in today's society, especially among the middle to younger generation, and it's not going anywhere anytime soon. If anything, it will only start expanding! This is why using it to your advantage, rather than ignoring it, can be imperative for your business's success.
So where do we start with social media marketing?
Research! Your content, post designs, scheduling, and copy can vary depending on the type of industry your business is in. Just simply googling a few things can help you kick start your social marketing plan and point you in the right direction. Just don't forget about creating your Target Audience! Another task would be to look up companies' profiles in the same industry as you and see what kind of content they're posting to get a sense of what you should and shouldn't be posting.
Social Platforms! Creating accounts on platforms that are trending would be a good start, even if it's only starting with 2 platforms. Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube are very popular for most businesses. Having an established connection across platforms will brin credibility to your business and increase your brand awareness.
Trial and Error! Once you have done your research, it's time to start posting. You want to start gathering analytics to review, which will help you decipher what kind of posts are beneficial and which ones aren't getting the most attention. It's a process and at first you will more than likely not get much attention because you are just starting out, but that doesn't mean you stop! Build your following, tag your social profile in comments, and share your socials any way that you can.
Like I said in the beginning, it can be very time consuming and annoying, but when you look at it long term, you're going to be thankful you prioritized it! Consider hiring a professional if it starts to become too time consuming, so you can free up time to focus on other work while still having social media prioritized!
